Church Bank clearing and re-seeding

  • by

Today the Church has started the process to improve the bank below Holy Trinity so that by next spring we should have a bank of meadow grasses and wild flowers attracting pollinating insects.

Initially however we need to kill off the bracken,  remove the dead foliage, plough and re-seed the bank – so in the short term it will not look so attractive. In addition the church will be cutting back the Rhododendron bushes to improve visibility of the Church itself; again it will look a bit bare in the short-term but new growth next spring will quickly improve the vista.

The WVA is working with the church to maintain the new ground which will probably need some additional work to remove stubborn brackens and brambles – so there may be calls for working parties in the spring to make sure we maintain the land as we want to see it.
