After 44 years operating under a constitution drawn up when the Village Association was formed, we believe it is an appropriate time to modernise the rules governing the way we operate. The Draft Constitution posted here is based on the Model Constitution for a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) laid out by the Charity Commission and covers their rules on how Charities must operate. The areas which we have discretion over to change are therefore limited but we have included a set of Objectives which will form the basis of what we do, and rules around membership, the committee structure, and our decision-making. Please take the time to read through the document. We welcome your comments and will be pleased to answer questions at the Open Meeting on 21st February as part of the consultation period which will last for 40 days until 12th March 2019. The new Constitution, once agreed, will be approved at an Extraordinary General Meeting later in the year.
